Hydroxytyrosol Proven to Reduce Risk of Macular Degeneration

Olivamine is a hydroxytyrosol-based product supported by strong scientific and clinical evidence. Hydroxytyrosol is a patent mitochondria-targeting antioxidant nutrient. Research results suggest that dietary administration of hydroxytyrosol may be an effective measure in reducing and or preventing cigarette smoke-induced or age-related retinal pigment epithelial degeneration, such as age-associated macular degeneration.

In research published in the American Medical Associations journal JAMA, it was reported that elevated C-reactive protein is an independent risk factor for macular degeneration. This eye disease is the leading cause of blindness and is characterized as the loss of central vision that eventually takes all vision away.

In a clinical trial Olivamine reduced C-reactive protein, the marker for inflammation, by nearly 70%. This reduction in inflammation may reduce the risk long-term inflammation associated with reduced immune function.
